The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is an advanced qualification designed for beauty therapists, based on National Occupational Standards (NOS) and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA). It is the only Level 4 qualification offered by VTCT for IPL and laser treatments, focusing on reducing hair growth and skin rejuvenation. Entry requires a Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline, ensuring students have the necessary skills and knowledge. This qualification is tailored for learners aged 18 and over, building on existing beauty therapy skills to prepare for employment in advanced beauty therapy roles. Students will gain hands-on experience in a real or realistic working environment, covering essential units such as client care, laser and light treatments for hair removal and skin rejuvenation, and salon health and safety management. The course requires research and practical application, with all units being mandatory. Successful completion of this qualification enables progression to roles as an advanced beauty therapist specializing in laser and IPL services. Further study options include advanced Level 4 qualifications in beauty therapy and salon management. This qualification has been endorsed by The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC), confirming its relevance and suitability for the role of a specialist cosmetic camouflage make-up artist. The course lasts 7 weeks, plus an additional day for IQA assessment. Prerequisites include the VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) and a Level 3 qualification in Anatomy and Physiology or a related diploma.
